Overview
The LGBTQ lobby has made the most conscious and direct attack on Biblical Christianity of any group in America … they claim God on their side … they criticize “conversion therapy” … the Christian promise to LGBTQ people is the greatest promise of all … guilt and sin in LGBTQ movement … Human Rights Campaign bribes the security guards.
The LGBTQ movement declares war on Christianity
Of all the groups staking territorial claims in the inclusiveness universe, the LGBTQ people have claimed the most. (LGBTQ, if you don’t know, stands for lesbian-gay-bisexual-transgender-queer, and has come to represent the rights of pretty much any sexually deviant “identity” a person can imagine.) This group has given inclusiveness a set of iron teeth, and achieved the improbable result of making inclusiveness exclusive.
The LGBTQ people have also been the ones making the most conscious and direct attack on Biblical Christianity. Christians need to be fully aware of what is going on.
The purported purpose of inclusiveness would seem to be to allow all different groups of people to be who they are and to get along with each other. Theoretically that should allow Christians to be Christians, and gays and lesbians and transgenders should be allowed to be what they want to be, and everyone just get along with each other.
The reality is different, however. The LGBTQ lobby has used the equality card to claim a right for men to marry men and women to marry women. This is supposed to allow them to feel “included” in society. And they demand that everyone honor their right to marry in this way – where “everyone” is to include Christian ministers, Christian charities, Christian businesses, Christian politicians, and so forth. And the LGBTQ “rights” are to be taught in all schools, to children of all religions. The Christian belief in marriage as a sacred sacrament between a man and a woman is nullified by law. The Christian teaching that homosexuality is an abomination to God is reversed by law, and the new teaching is force-fed to our children. And Americans, by and large, are saying, “Okay, why not?”
Earlier I said that atheists may curse God and then say, “See? Nothing happened.” That seems on the face of it to be an extreme example that doesn’t apply to most of us, since most people don’t literally say such things. But actually it is not extreme at all. Our entire society has said essentially the same thing by legalizing gay marriage and requiring everyone to honor that law. This is overt defiance toward God. It is like shaking a fist at God, and saying, “I don’t care about your laws, God, and I don’t believe you are able to do anything about it, either. You can go jump in the lake.”
God himself co-opted by the LGBTQ movement
It’s interesting that LGBTQ people often look for inclusion within the general framework of a Christian God. They don’t want to completely abandon the Christian heritage. Gays and lesbians are heard to say, “God made me this way. That God that you talk about so self-righteously – the fact that I’m gay or lesbian is his doing! If you are right then God must be breaking his own laws!”
But God does not break his own laws. Christians who know the Bible know that homosexuality is an abomination to God. God says so repeatedly in both the Old and New Testaments. And they know that God does not create anyone homosexual. There is no homosexual gene, no genetic cause for homosexuality. The most dedicated LGBTQ researchers have not been able to find such evidence. And obviously there is no biological cause of transgender desires – quite the opposite. Christians see that homosexual and transgender behavior arise from a spirit of disobedience. God does not break his own laws.
The LGBTQ lobby works hard to suppress these facts, however, and it works doubly hard at painting conservative Christians as “haters.” Their efforts to change public thinking have been effective. The iron teeth of inclusiveness are succeeding in suppressing the voices of Christians. The iron teeth of inclusiveness are succeeding in crushing any public opposition to LGBTQ causes, and even convincing people that God is on their side.
But does God really not see? Will God really not act? Can God be co-opted by anybody? And are those people really “haters” who are trying to warn us all that there is a truck coming down the road? I have documented in a separate message [“God Speaks to America”] that God does see, and God does take action; and Christians in America should take notice that they will be affected as much as atheists.
The LGBTQ lobby condemns “conversion therapy”
LGBTQ activists have coined the term “conversion therapy” to describe any Christian attempts to convince gays that they don’t have to be gay, and that they would be happier if they were not. The LGBTQ people strongly condemn such efforts as “hateful” and as causing guilt and anxiety in gays, which they claim may in turn lead to depression and even suicide. They have convinced mainstream health organizations to denounce conversion therapy, and they have persuaded legislators in some areas to pass laws prohibiting it.
But is there really such a thing as conversion therapy? Jesus clearly was not a therapist. Jesus never said, “Come back to see me again next week with a check for $100, and we’ll talk about this some more.” Jesus spoke a word, and a person was changed forever.
And that still happens. Even today, when Jesus speaks, a person is changed forever. The LGBTQ lobby (along with many supporters) may deny that this is possible, but it is possible, and it does still happen – though there is no human prescription for making it happen. In the time of Jesus’ ministry, it did not happen to everyone; there were many unbelievers, and many without faith. And the same is true today. Some will receive Jesus, and some will not. There is no cookbook procedure, no set of rules to write in a medical textbook.
What Christians preach is not therapy. What Christians preach is “Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God” (1 Corinthians 1:23-24).
Hope and promise for all LGBTQ persons
This should come as a word of strong encouragement to any LGBTQ participant who senses that something has gone wrong. If you are gay, you should know that there absolutely is a way out! Jesus Christ himself is the way. He is the only way. He is “the way, and the truth, and the life” (John 14:6). Jesus is alive today; and he has the power to bring you out of the gay lifestyle. He has the power to give you a new life that is holy and pure in the eyes of God – a life in which God’s love replaces all anxiety and fear.
It isn’t easy
Jesus holds out his hand to every LGBTQ person, pleading with him or her to accept Christ and be transformed by Christ’s resurrection power. But that doesn’t mean that Christianity offers an EASY button. A person may be dramatically changed by Christ, but that does not mean the road ahead is easy. That’s because the Christian life is not easy, regardless of a person’s starting point. Jesus warned that “the gate is narrow and the way is hard, that leads to life, and those who find it are few” (Matthew 7:14). The new Christian will experience a peace that passes all understanding – a peace he or she never experienced in life as an LGBTQ person. But the demons that have had a comfortable home in that person for so long will be clamoring at the door, trying to get back in. Satan will be urging them on, exhorting them to break down the door and take back the control they once had.
And at the same time, the jealous LGBTQ community will be baying like hounds after the new convert, saying, “Don’t let Christ have a victory! Come back and join with us, your old friends. Don’t be fooled by that conversion therapy stuff!” They can’t bear to see someone who was once like them, gaining a new life which they can’t have. Yet Jesus gives all believers this assurance: “He who endures to the end will be saved” (Matthew 24:13).
How the LGBTQ movement deals with guilt
I said earlier that the LGBTQ lobby opposes conversion therapy because they claim conversion therapy causes guilt, which in turn leads to anxiety. But there is a serious problem with their logic. The root cause of guilt is not therapy, but sin. They propose to get rid of guilt by simply re-defining sin – by telling everyone that what society used to consider sin is no longer sin. What used to be excluded behavior is now included, simply by redefinition. The assumption is that guilt is something created by man, by man-made laws, and therefore man is free to say, “I’ve washed my hands. There is no sin; I am not guilty.”
There is only one way to remove guilt, however, and that is through Jesus Christ. There are no loopholes. There is no redefining of sin. God says simply, “For I the Lord do not change” (Malachi 3:6). We all stand before God as sinners. Without Christ there will always be anxiety, because human declarations of innocence cannot remove guilt.
Human Rights Campaign bribes the security guards
The easiest way to rob a bank is to get help from the security guards. The security guards benefit, too. Instead of putting their lives on the line to defend the bank, they sit back and calmly watch the robbers work, and afterward take their cut from the loot.
The LGBTQ gang is staging a monumental bank robbery, with the complete cooperation of the security guards. The gang leader is the powerful Human Rights Campaign (HRC) organization in Washington, D.C., and the security guards are the American Medical Association, the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, the American Psychological Association, and other leading health and medical organizations.
Under pressure from the HRC, our leading medical organizations have made solemn pronouncements that gay, lesbian, and transgender behavior is normal, and conversion therapy is harmful. These official statements are like gold bullion to the LGBTQ lobby. LGBTQ people are now officially – medically, scientifically – declared normal, and they have the documentation to prove it in a court of law. Anyone who declares otherwise must be motivated (they say) by prejudice and hatred.
And what do the leading medical organizations (the security guards) gain from the deal? The fact is, they have never been able to find any course of therapy, counseling, or medication that would reliably change gays and lesbians into happy heterosexuals. So, hey! Declare LGBTQ people to be normal, and problem solved! Perhaps more importantly to them, they get the never-take-no-for-an-answer HRC off their backs.
Everyone seems happy, at least on the surface. But the robbers have deliberately ignored one particular security guard: the Lord God, who is Creator of the bank itself, Creator of man and woman, and Creator of the marriage covenant which the LGBTQ folks think to redefine. This God is also, by the way, the generous Sustainer of the lives of the same doctors and lawyers who have declared his laws to be null and void. At what point will God say, “That’s it; I’m pulling out of this bank; I hereby declare it bankrupt.”?
Guilt in the bathroom mirror
LGBTQ people may think a majority vote by society will eliminate their guilt, but their bodies will always bear witness to them that there is something deeply wrong. The pieces in their anatomical jigsaw puzzle don’t fit together right; the picture doesn’t match the box cover, and is perverted and distorted. There will always be guilt, staring at them in the bathroom mirror; there will always be anxiety.
Why do they call their parades and their public events “pride” events? It is because they are trying to convince themselves that their abominations are something to be proud of. They are constantly trying to wipe away that picture they face in the mirror every morning. They are constantly trying to wipe away the “old fashioned” sin, and by sheer force of verbal repetition replace sin with pride.
In the end, it won’t work. Only the power of God, released through the sacrificial blood of Jesus Christ, can save them. The expression “Jesus saves” is literally true. It doesn’t just mean that Jesus has the power to forgive sins; it means that Jesus has the power to overcome all causes of sin, in all of us – including that spirit of disobedience at the root of homosexual desires.
LGBTQ people think Christianity condemns them, and they are 100% right! The fact is, Christianity condemns all of us. We all stand as sinners before a holy and righteous God. Only the grace of God, released through the sacrificial blood of Jesus Christ, can save any of us. The apostle Paul said: “Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!” (Romans 7:24-25).
